This section presents hands-on construction and making work undertaken by Daniel Yoell, founding director of Studio Yoell, as part of a wider team, prior to and alongside the practice. It includes a range of bespoke carpentry and joinery, from high-end fitted furniture to first fix site carpentry on new build and period properties, including Victorian and Georgian buildings. Work includes Grade I and Grade II listed buildings, including the restoration of a Grade I listed dwelling in Amberley.
Daniel Yoell received a Sussex Heritage Trust Award, together with the lead carpenter, for the carpentry and joinery works delivered as part of this project.
The work spans a range of existing conditions and build-ups, including solid stone, brick, cavity and timber construction. This on-site experience has developed a clear understanding of materials, detailing, buildability and coordination, working closely with architects, engineers and other trades.
Additional projects not shown include freelance carpentry work delivering house renovations, loft conversions and small-scale extensions in collaboration with architects and engineers.
This experience informs Studio Yoell’s approach, ensuring projects are practical, buildable and clearly resolved.
All works shown were undertaken during employment with Hartley Quinn Wilson. Project and photographic credits remain with Hartley Quinn Wilson and associated teams.
