Studio Yoell

Design philosophy.

Studio Yoell works with considered geometry and spatial clarity. Material and structure define how a space feels and performs.

Materials are carefully selected for their quality and detailed with precision.

Design is guided by a clear process, structural rationality and buildability. Only what is necessary.

Daniel Yoell is the founding director of Studio Yoell, an architectural designer based in Lewes and Brighton & Hove, working across Sussex and London. He studied at the Royal College of Art, graduating with an MArch in Architecture, following a First Class degree in Interior Architecture from the University of Brighton.

With over 18 years in construction, including experience as a carpenter, joiner and furniture maker, his work is grounded in a practical understanding of materials, detailing and buildability, informed by strong construction knowledge and problem solving, with a clear focus on design quality and working within budget constraints.

He works across all aspects of residential design, including new build, retrofit and renovation projects, delivering clear, considered and buildable solutions from planning through to construction.

Daniel also teaches part-time at the University of Brighton, focusing on material selection, making and construction, design process, and working within a circular economy. His teaching emphasises the role of materials and construction methods in shaping the design process, informing spatial quality and a holistic approach to building design, including leading workshops on bio-based materials.
